In the 2023-2024 marketing year, the statistics of grain exports from Ukraine improved significantly. The total exports increased by 3% compared to the previous period, in particular, wheat exports increased by 10%.
According to Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, the intensification of seaports and reduction of illegal exports played an important role, which allowed to significantly increase exports in April-May to 11 million tonnes. He expressed this opinion in the comment to UNN.
"Thanks to the efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which ensure the security of the maritime grain corridor, we see an increase in official statistics on exports of Ukrainian products," said Denys Marchuk.
In addition, he added that the law signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy aimed at strengthening the fight against illegal exports is already showing positive results.
"The new law and the fight against the schemes that allowed buying grain for cash and avoiding the return of foreign exchange earnings also contribute to the improvement of the situation. If at the beginning of the marketing year the volume of the illegal market was about 30%, now it has decreased to 18%," emphasized the UAC Deputy Chairman.
