During his working visit to Germany, to the 17th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), the Сhairman of the UAC Andrii Dykun met with the Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and German Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz.
During the meeting, which was held with the assistance of Prince Michael zu Salm-Salm, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council expressed his gratitude to Friedrich Merz for the assistance provided by Germany to Ukraine for the protection and defense of the state, as well as for his unwavering position in supporting the country from the first days of the full-scale invasion.
“Germany is one of Ukraine's main partners in many strategic areas. In particular, in the agricultural sector, which already now, at the stage of preparation for EU accession, requires special attention from partners. Due to the war in Ukraine, global food security is under constant threat, so strong support from allies is a defense against the food crisis,” said Andrii Dykun.
According to the German chancellor candidate, support for Ukraine will continue, as he wants to achieve peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.
Friedrich Merz became the Сhairman of the CDU, Germany's main opposition party that supports Ukraine, in February 2022 and was the first German politician who visited Ukraine during the full-scale invasion of Russia.
According to polls, the CDU/CSU is supported by about 30% of voters. This percentage guarantees the bloc first place and the right to form a government headed by Friedrich Merz.
