The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill №3672, which amends the final provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Food Safety and Feeds’ Hygiene". They allow the use of supplement feeds in the feed production, as well as the import into the customs’ territory of Ukraine and the circulation of supplement feeds and feeds made using supplement feeds, if such supplement feeds are registered in the EU.
There is a situation In Ukraine where the livestock industry could be left without feeds. In January of this year, the Law of Ukraine "On Food Safety and Feeds’ Hygiene" came into force, which provided for the creation of the State Register of supplement feeds in accordance with European legislation. It was assumed that finished feeds could be produced or imported into Ukraine only with the use of additives registered in this register. However, it has not yet been established, and the system of registration of finished feeds, which previously operated in Ukraine, has been abolished.
Permission to use and import into Ukraine supplement feeds and feeds, registered in the EU, will stabilize the feed market in Ukraine. At the same time, these changes are temporary and will cease to be effective in 4 years, after coming into force of the Law of Ukraine "On Food Safety and Feeds’ Hygiene". During this time, the authorities plan to complete the launch of the feed additives state registration system.
