Members of the Ukrainian Agri Council have launched a new initiative to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine: they are selling property that is no longer useful to the farm, but the proceeds from its sale can be used for the needs of the military. Regional councils have joined the initiative, as they own many unprofitable assets.

"At my company, I sold scrap metal, old lathes, and other unnecessary property that I thought would still be useful. We are continuing the "big cleanup" on the eve of Easter holidays - all unnecessary metal will be collected and sold, and the proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine!" said Serhiy Ivashchuk, a member of the UAC Board and Chairman of Perlyna Podillia AE.

Other members of the UAC, as well as regional councils, began to join the initiative. During the plenary session of the Khmelnytsk Regional Council, Serhiy Ivashchuk, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the budget committee, proposed to use all possible resources of the region as efficiently as possible to accumulate funds for all the defense forces registered in Khmelnytsky.

"At the session, I submitted two deputy requests to the heads of the Khmelnytsk Military Administration and the regional council with relevant proposals. The first request was to make a decision on the funds received from the small-scale privatization of municipal property in 2022-2023 as soon as possible with the participation of all deputy factions to allocate them to the Armed Forces. Members of the budget commission proposed to sell the property of unprofitable enterprises of the regional council, and we received UAH 65 million. And this is from unprofitable assets! The next step we took was to initiate a full inventory of all the property of the regional council and saw an opportunity to get a similar amount from its sale! Thus, we will receive more than UAH 100 million in Khmelnytsk region and more than UAH 2 billion in Ukraine! And these are funds that are actually in a passive state and are of no use to either the region or the state," explained Sergiy Ivashchuk.

The farmers who are members of the UAC hope that other regional councils will follow suit, which will allow them to concentrate about UAH 2-2.5 billion.

"I support this initiative. We plan to implement it in Cherkasy region. It can be not only scrap metal, but also communal premises that are currently unprofitable and do not bring any benefit to the region. It is important to carry out such "sanitary work" in each region, and thus not only support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also close corruption schemes," said Ihor Novytskyi, a UAC member farmer and deputy of the Cherkasy Regional Council.

The UAC calls on agricultural enterprises to join the initiative and start a "big cleaning" to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
