The Ukrainian Agri Council, the Ukrainian Agrarian Protection Control Association and the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club Association appealed to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine to unblock plant protection products for Ukrainian farmers in Turkish ports. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Agri Council.

"Due to the situation in Ukraine, we are faced with the need to establish logistics routes through Turkish ports. As the goods are in transit status in Turkey, in order to ship the goods, the representatives of the international lines in Turkey demand to change the consignee to a Turkish company. That means, to give the right of ownership (bill of lading) to another company," is mentioned in the statement.

This is an extremely unusual requirement and adds additional delays in the cargo clearance process. Representative offices of the same lines in other countries, in particular Romania, do not have such requirements and ship to the Ukrainian recipient company.

"Additionally, we have a situation where cargo from the seaport can be picked up only by a Turkish carrier company. At the same time, there are not many such companies in Turkey for ADR cargo and they are not ready to go to Ukraine. Due to the above, we have a difficult situation with the export of pesticides from Turkish ports. This product, the usage of which should begin on April 10-15 this year, has already been sold, it is waited for farmers and is needed now. In total, we have pesticides for the spring-summer season (ready for usage products and raw materials for production) on a sown area of over 3 million hectares,” the profile associations emphasized.

In addition, the question arises that, despite the lack of an effective procedure for dealing with the transit of imports to Ukraine, from April 4 this year, the lines began to charge fines for storage of goods in ports.

"Please assist in the appeal to the Turkish authorities to allow Ukrainian road transport hauliers to pick up goods in Turkish ports, and allow them to remain in the bill of lading as the recipient the Ukrainian companies, and not to impose fines for storing pesticides in Turkish ports," is mentioned in the document.
