The Ukrainian ports, which are important logistical routes for the export of agricultural products and not only, were blocked by Russian troops. Only in 6 months, Ukraine managed to restore the ports’ activity for the export of agricultural products.

What is the current situation with exports, the UAC Deputy Chairman Denys Marchuk told Channel 24.

"Thanks to the signing of the Istanbul Agreement, Ukraine will see one of the best ways to solve the export problem, because now the ports are involved. In fact, nowadays we have unloading on 33 ships, and 720 thousand tons of agricultural products have already been exported. In addition, routes by road, railway and river port across the Danube have proven themselves. Thus, in July, the export indicator is 3 million tons," said Denys Marchuk.

The expert added that the more ports and new ships we attract, the greater the guarantee that the state will be able to effectively start the sowing campaign. This requires somewhere between 80 and 100 ships per month to operate sustainably.

In addition, if we continue to use these 3 logistics routes on the same scale as in July, as well as sea routes, then in August the export indicator will be about 4 million tons.

But despite this good indicator, it is not enough for exports to its fully functioning as before the Russian full-scale invasion.

What was the export like before the war

According to Denys Marchuk, the indicator before the war reached about 6 million through the ports. Such volumes made it possible to effectively sell agricultural products and receive foreign exchange earnings, which farmers need to carry out their current work.

Currently, export is extremely important, because half a year of an uncertain situation with exports led to the fact that now during the sowing campaign we have a reduced number of people who will sow winter crops, - noted the UAC Deputy Chairman.

The expert emphasized that the issue of security, which Ukraine hopes for, will be guaranteed by representatives of the Istanbul Agreement, remains extremely important now.
