This year's harvest will be higher than last year's and amount to 77 million tons. This was stated by Denys Marchuk, The UAC Deputy Chairman during the National Telethon.

According to him, this year's carryover grain stocks and new harvest require an increase in Ukraine's export capacity.

"Before the start of the harvesting campaign, the yield prediction was not encouraging. Farmers are facing constant shelling in the war, some of their fields are in the occupied territory, and some are mined. Due to the inability to export their products properly, they do not have sufficient working capital to conduct their business.  However, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our farmers and favorable weather, we have achieved better results," said Denys Marchuk.

Unfortunately, today we have restrictions on exports by land routes to the west by 5 countries and the shelling of port infrastructure on the Danube, says Denys Marchuk.

"Before the shelling this summer, the ports on the Danube were exporting 2.5 million tons of agricultural products every month. After the destruction of the port infrastructure, this figure decreased. Also, 5 Eastern European countries have restricted the supply of 4 types of agricultural products from Ukraine. However, negotiations are underway to increase transportation via "solidarity routes" to the west. Including with countries that have restricted exports. There is still transit to ports of other EU countries, but this means additional costs for carriers. A ton of grain can cost more than USD100 to the Baltic and Adriatic. Such logistics will be beyond their means, given that for a year and a half now, producers have not received a decent price for their products," emphasized Denys Marchuk.

The UAC Deputy Chairman also thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which have done a tremendous job in launching export routes from Ukrainian ports outside the grain corridor.
