In September, Ukraine exported a total of 6.9 million tons of grain and oil crops and reached pre-war figures. Grain corridors are working, they have proven their effectiveness, but Ukraine should be more deeply integrated into the European logistics system, which will become an additional tool for increasing export potential.
Denis Marchuk, the Deputy Chair of the UAC reported this to the Ukraine Media Center – Ukrinform during a briefing on the topic "Results of grain corridors".
"In August, we exported 1.7 million tons of products by Odesa Port, in September this number was 3.8 million... Totally, we exported almost 7 million tons by all routes. This means that Ukraine reached the pre-war export period. The current dynamics show that Ukraine fulfills its obligations. As an export-oriented state, we demonstrate the whole world that all the positions signed in Istanbul are working... It is important for us that the "grain corridor" continues working in winter, summer and spring," Denys Marchuk emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine should further integrate into the European logistics system.
"The logistics issue is urgent for the agricultural sector. Last week, a discussion on the expansion of logistics cooperation between Ukraine and the EU took place in Brussels. The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi participated. Despite the work of the "grain" corridors, we do not give up hope for cooperation with our European partners. Logistics costs accounted for 80-90% of the cost of products sold by farmers. So the possibility of increasing the number of "dry" transshipment places where grains could be transshipped is considered. We are negotiating on the extension of the railway connection. It is necessary to increase the number of checkpoints on the western borders. One of the key issues is the transportation of sunflower oil. A large-scale project is planned. If we manage to integrate into the European logistics system, it will become the additional tool for increasing export potential.
