The spring sowing campaign has already started in Ukraine, but farmers will not be able to use all potentially possible areas. The main reasons for under-sowing are the lack of financial resources due to the non-extension of the affordable loan program for agricultural producers and significant areas of mined arable land.

This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, Denis Marchuk, during a briefing at "Ukrinform" .

"In the south of Ukraine, farmers have already gone to the fields. However, in addition to the war, agricultural producers face many problems, the main of which is the lack of financial resources. Last year UAH 95 billion was allocated for 5-7-9 program. Banks are currently demanding refunds from farmers, while last season producers had limited opportunities to sell their products. The state is signaling that preferential loans will be extended, but now the agricultural sector is waiting, because about UAH 40 billion is needed for sowing," said Denys Marchuk.

The Deputy Chairman of the UAC added that in addition to extending the program, it is also important to increase the maximum amount of credit that one legal entity can receive up to UAH 180 million.

Farmers in the occupied and de-occupied territories are in the worst conditions.

"About 5 million hectares of land in Ukraine require demining. Farmers of the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions suffer the most from mines. Demining has already begun in the Mykolaiv region, where 3.5 thousand hectares out of 300 thousand are planned to be cleaned for planting vegetable crops," said Denys Marchuk.

According to him, a major problem of spring sowing in the occupied territories is the uncertainty regarding the legalization of economic activity. For this, it is important to adopt two draft laws: No. 7646 and No. 7647, which are under consideration by the Law Enforcement Committee of the Verkhovna Rada
