Agricultural products markets today are extremely sensitive to the situation in the Black Sea. The expected extension of the grain corridor in the coming days, will give a positive signal to the market for the spring sowing campaign. The agreement should be extended for at least 120 days, not 60, as required by the Russia.

This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, Denis Marchuk, during the panel discussion "The security of the Black Sea is a guarantee of world food security. What and how can become its guarantor"  - Ukrinform Media Center.

"When the sea ports were unblocked, the agricultural sector saw a 10% increase in product prices in just one month. This supported agricultural producers as grain trade was completely unprofitable in the conditions of the sea blockade. The work of the corridor was very important: in October, Ukraine reached pre-war export figures – exporting about 4 million tons of agricultural products through Odessa ports, another 2 million tons - through the Solidarity Corridors. The opening of the humanitarian grain corridor has become a positive signal for the autumn sowing, currently such a signal is necessary for the spring sowing," said Denys Marchuk.

Russia's food terrorism must be stopped. "When Russia announced changes to the "grain agreement", initiating a reduction in its validity period to 60 days, it immediately suspended certain contracting and forward contracts for grain," said the deputy head of the UAC.

According to him, any information related to the deal has a strong impact on the market situation. In particular, ship freight prices are rising, traders are fixing product prices and suspending contracting for future deliveries. The expert said that some of the farmers have reserves not only of last year's grain, but also of grain of the 2021 harvest, therefore stable work and prolongation of the "grain corridor" is very important for them.
