The Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC) has launched a project aimed at developing strategic partnerships in the seed sector. The project is part of the AGRO Program initiative, implemented with the support of the U.S. Government and private sector partners, to expand access for micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural enterprises to information on varieties and hybrids of major field crops best adapted to Ukraine’s agro-climatic conditions. This will help increase yields and improve grain quality under conditions of extreme climate change and limited resources.
One of the main objectives of the UAC project is to establish sustainable cooperation between Ukrainian and international seed companies, primarily from the United States, as well as other participants in the seed market. Such cooperation will promote innovation, technology transfer, and the introduction of modern seed solutions to the Ukrainian market.
The UAC will strengthen the activities of the Regional Climate-Oriented Seed Centers, established with the support of the AGRO Program in the Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Khmelnytskyi regions. In particular, this will include informational and training events aimed both at facilitating knowledge exchange between Ukrainian and American seed companies and at disseminating effective agrotechnological solutions among micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural producers.
A key tool of the project will be the creation of the SeedsVision Global information and analytical platform, which will provide farmers with access to field testing results of domestic and foreign crop varieties and hybrids across different agro-climatic zones of Ukraine. The platform will also host training materials, analytics, and recommendations in the field of seed production — information necessary for agricultural producers to make informed agrotechnological decisions.
“For farmers, the choice of variety is the foundation of the future harvest. We are bringing together business, science, and international partners to provide farmers with access to verified information on climate-adapted varieties and hybrids. This will help agricultural producers make informed decisions and increase the efficiency of their operations,” said Oleksandr Valebnyi, Seed Sector Development Project Coordinator.
The Ukrainian Agri Council is confident that the implementation of the project will become an important tool for strengthening the resilience and development of Ukrainian agricultural producers and will contribute to enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the seed sector.
