This was announced by the General Director of the Association of Milk Producers during the round table “Marshall Plan for the agricultural sector, promising business directions for suppliers in 2022-2023", which was organized by the Ukrainian Agri Council, the Association of Milk Producers and the Association of Ukrainiane Pigs Breeders within the framework of EuroTier2022 in Hannover.
"Killed animals, destroyed agricultural enterprises, warehouses, equipment, etc. Direct losses of the agricultural sector - $6.6 billion. But, if we talk about indirect losses of assets, then it is already more than $34 billion. Up to 25% of sown areas cannot be accessed now due to occupation or insufficient distance from the front line, " she emphasizes.
Russian mines are also a major difficulty and challenge for the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
"Ukraine is currently the most mined territory in the world. In June, approximately 300,000 square kilometers of land were mined, which is half of our territory. At the beginning of October, the number of mined lands decreased to 185 thousand square kilometers. Many of our farmers, especially in the de-occupied territories, cannot go to the fields, because it is very dangerous for their lives," said the General Director of AMP.
At the same time, many enterprises have gone bankrupt and this can be a disaster. Therefore, the strategic task of the new agrarian policy, which is currently at the stage of active discussion with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, and agrarian associations, is first of all that we must work on high-tech, efficient and sustainable development of the agricultural industry. Therefore, the support of foreign colleagues is extremely important to Ukrainian farmers
