Russia threatens world and Ukraine's food security and purposefully destroys agricultural enterprises. The Chair of the UAC Andrii Dykun stated this on the air of the Kyiv TV channel .

"Ukraine is quite strong in the world, so Russia is trying to substitute us. In the occupied territory, agricultural enterprises are in a difficult situation. Occupiers raid enterprises and appoint new owners. Animals are shot and taken for meat. Animal complexes are completely destroyed. Grain is exported to Crimea. It will be difficult to recover in such a short period of time in order to start sowing in the spring," said the Chair of the UAC.

According to him, Ukrainian farmers have sowed 50% less wheat this fall than before. But Ukraine consumes only a third of what it collects. Therefore, there will be enough for own consumption, but the world will not receive about 3 million tons of wheat and barley. For some countries, this could be a disaster.

It will not be easy to restore the agricultural sector in Ukraine, but farmers are ready to work. We hope for the support of international partners and compensation for the damages.

"Today, everyone is talking about the Marshall Plan and Ukraine’s restoration. The Ukrainian Agri Council actively works on this with international partners. Together with the Swiss government, we help dairy farms from de-occupied territories by providing financial support. With the USAID Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities Activity (AGRO), we have launched a damage assessment project. We developed an interactive map of the destruction in the agricultural sector, where we can see the losses of enterprises. And they also handed over the first batch of sleeves for grain storage and packaging equipment," Andrii Dykun said.
