In an interview with BBC World Service's Newsday, Andriy Dykun, the UAC Chairman, spoke about the nighttime drone attack in Ukraine that caused significant damage to grain storage facilities in the city of Uman. According to him, what happened in Uman was unexpected. The attack caused a fire in the warehouses. In particular, where grain was stored. Throughout the day on Sunday, firefighters tried to extinguish the fire over an area of more than 3,000 square meters.

"Unfortunately, we are used to Russia attacking port infrastructure every night, but Uman is in central Ukraine, 250 kilometers from Odesa, far from the Black Sea ports that have already been attacked. It is far from the eastern front. That is why it is a cause for concern. Now the granaries are not fully filled, but we will start harvesting corn and the warehouses will be full. This is a very dangerous situation. Russia has been expanding its drone attacks on granaries across the country. There were several injuries in this incident, but no fatalities were reported," said Dykun.

Prior to the Russian invasion, Ukraine was one of the world's largest grain exporters, supplying food to the entire world.

"Usually, Ukraine exports eight million tons of grain every month, but now it can only export about four million. We need to ensure exports by sea and resolve the issue of exports through the countries on the western border. In addition, Ukraine needs constant financial support from other countries. Without the support of the UK, the US, and our European partners, we would not have survived," said the UAC Chairman.
