As part of his working visit to London, the UAC Chairman Andrii Dykun met with representatives of the National Farmers Union of Great Britain (NFU). The Association was found in 1908, unites more than 45,000 farmers and is one of the most influential and respected trade organizations in the UK.
During the meeting with President of the NFU Tom Bradshaw and NFU Director of Policy Andrew Clark, the parties discussed cooperation and exchanged experience in protecting farmers' interests. The British side expressed support for the Ukrainian initiative to prohibit the export of seeds, agricultural machinery and agricultural technologies to Russia. They also promised to take appropriate steps both in their country and at the EU level.
They also discussed the UK's experience of leaving the EU, in particular its impact on the agricultural sector. According to British farmers, initial fears about losing the market were not justified, and now they are experiencing the benefits of independence from European legislation in the agricultural production sector.
“British farmers emphasized that after leaving the EU they felt more freedom in decision-making and less regulatory pressure. This experience is important for Ukraine, and we should carefully prepare for joining the EU to protect the interests of our farmers and take advantage of new opportunities,” said Andrii Dykun.
The meeting was an important step in the development of the partnership between the UAC and the NFU to further support Ukrainian farmers.
