Andrii Dykun the chair of the UAC stated on Channel 5 that it is important to decentralize the energy market in Ukraine, increase credit limits and launch the chemical industry to support the agricultural sector. "Without a doubt, the number one task today is to sow. This year, farmers will sow 25% less land than last year. In addition to the problems with the occupation and mining, farmers do not have working funds and cannot invest in fertilizers as before. Fertilizer prices are high because gas is used for their production costs. However, we know that Ukrainian gas would be enough for the population and could be sold to farmers to produce cheap fertilizers. That is why we started raising this issue. Ukrainian gas should not be sold on international markets at international prices, but should be converted into fertilizers through added value. If we launch the chemical industry, our agricultural sector would be able to compete in international markets, even with our enemy," said Andrii Dykun.
In addition, credit is important for agricultural activities.
"You can't start the sowing season without money. Farmers are working at a loss. Therefore, financing is necessary. The government has supported us and extended the preferential loan 5-7-9 soft program, for which we are very grateful. However, in order for medium-sized agricultural companies to work better during the sowing season, it is important to increase lending limits from UAH 90 million to UAH 180 million," added Andrii Dykun.
According to the chair of the UAC, constant energy supply is also important for uninterrupted agricultural production. To achieve this, it is necessary to create small energy infrastructure facilities.
"We all remember the blackouts after the shelling of energy infrastructure. Today, it is important for every farmer to be able to install a wind turbine or solar panel on the farm to provide their enterprise with electricity. The relevant draft law on energy decentralization has been registered in the Parliament, but unfortunately, there has been no progress. We will actively work on this issue," he said.
