Agrarians from the southern, central and eastern regions complain of drought and predict a loss of grain crops up to 50%. In particular, most complaints were received from farmers in Kherson, Odessa, Khmelnytsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Vinnytsia regions. According to the results of a survey conducted by the members of the Ukrainian Agricultural Council, it is known that wheat and barley suffered the most, since in some regions of our country there was almost no rain for several months.
"The last rain in our area was 2-3 weeks ago. After that, it was very weak; it soaked the soil no more than 2-3 cm. This is the only rain that we had from the very winter," complains Mykola Gursky, director of a private agricultural enterprise (PAE) "Lyudmila" (Khmelnytsky region).
Agrarian notes that the losses of his farm on wheat will reach 30%, and on soya - about 20%.
At the same time, the director of the farm "Shchedra Sadyba-M" (Khmelnytsky region) Alexander Bondar predicts that if he does not have protracted rains in the near future, he can lose about 40% of the wheat harvest and 50% of the soy harvest.
"There was almost no rain in our area since the snow melted. In this case, even if the rain goes, it will not correct the situation. The plant is no longer at that stage of development, it is weak ", - he said.
The director of Terra LLC (Dnipropetrovsk region), Alexander Doroshenko, noted that the loss of crop at his company could also reach 50%.
"If there are no further rains, we can lose up to 50% of the harvest. Wheat and barley suffered the most. Sunflower and corn - less, these crops still have a small supply of moisture. But, given the weather fluctuations, it is unknown what will happen next. The last rain in our area was observed on May 8-9, and it was very insignificant, "- said the director of the company.
At the same time, farmers say that they can consider the exact amount of losses closer to the time of harvest.
