Almost 3 months Ukraine stands against COVID-19. Doctors became the first people, who fought against COVID-19. They didn’t have any protection features and information how to deal with this illness.
The biggest charity event “Let’s save Ukrainians’ lives” has started at the end of the March with the lead of the agrarians' association “Ukrainian Agri Council”. According to this charity event, more than 700 agriculture enterprises from all Ukraine united to help doctors and hospitals in their regions.Agrarians from more than 190 districts in 23 regions joined this charity event. Agriculture producers communicated with the heads of the hospitals and discussed their needs. A lot of the hospitals’ heads asked agriculture producers for help. During that time medical institutions of different types have got more than 20 million UAH.
Besides, agriculture producers made a provision for hospitals. They supplied 30 different types of medical technique (16 artificial lung ventilation units, oxygen concentrators, etc.). Police officers, doctors, rescuers and frontier guardians have got more than 0,5 million protection features. It’s about 300 thousand filter masks and protection screens, 45 thousand protective overalls, more than 120 thousand gloves and the other protection features, including hundreds liters of disinfectant liquid.
Agrarians' representatives also helped with food products. More than 60 thousand of product bags were given to the hospitals, needy families and old people.
But that is not the end. UAC armed doctors with the information about COVID-19 and made 3 online-meetings with doctors from Italy, France and Israel. During those meetings they compared notes about COVID-19 treatment. Abroad hospitals shared the experience how to treat seriously ill patients, how to organize work in the hospitals during pandemic, talked about special features of doctors’ personal protection.
“Small and mediun agriculture enterprises showed us that they were Good Corporate Citizen and cared about community. That is not the first time when we help. In 2014, at the beginning of the war, agrarians, as hundreds of the other activists, lent their shoulders to the army and volunteers. They couldn’t stand aside and helped to save Ukrainians’ health.” – the Chairman of UAC Andriy Dykun tells us.The virus is still active, struggle endures and that means that agrarians are going to help doctors and everyone who needs this. Because our country can stand the danger only by joining forces.
