In the second half of November there is a rather controversial situation on the market of cuttles. Due to the approaching holidays, operators expected or increased prices, or their fixation at the achieved level. On the other hand, there are no prerequisites for the increase in pork purchases, and the price in turn continues to decline.

Thus, according to the results of price monitoring conducted by the Association of Pig Producers of Ukraine, this week the average mark dropped to 42.3 UAH/kg, having weakened by 2% compared to the previous one.

According to meat processors, the price for live pigs this week is very heterogeneous: some operators carried out harvesting for 43-44 UAH/kg, some worked in the range of 41-42 UAH/kg, and sometimes there were even lower prices. At the same time, the purchasers state that the supply of pigs is sufficient, but the average live weight of animals entering the slaughter has increased by at least 5-7 kg it often exceeds 120 kg.

Market situation is described by the market operators as rather sluggish: the formation of stocks and procurement of raw materials for the production of meat delicacies for the winter holidays took place without hesitation and in no way differed in the price of purchases. At the same time, the demand from the end consumer is weak, which is explained by the low solvency of the population, which is most closely associated with the coming of the heating season.

Meat makers unanimously state that the current situation in the market of cuttles does not correspond to the traditional behavior of this market consumer in a certain period.

Therefore, it is difficult to predict the situation for the future. On the other hand, the presence of imported raw materials (mainly pork in the elements) in the market, restraint of consumer activity of consumers and a change in the strategy of meat processors in relation to the formation of stocks pushes the domestic price.

In addition, the higher mean mortality (and consequently the worse output of carcass meat), according to the purchasers, explicitly indicates that there will be no shortage of pork in the next couple of weeks.

Given this situation, representatives of the Association of meat processing industry expect that next week the range of purchasing prices will be consolidated at the level of 41-42 UAH/kg.
