The next round of land reform, which will start in Ukraine on January 1, 2024, threatens to buy agricultural land by companies that managed to accumulate funds during martial law. Farmers will not be able to buy land because of the losses incurred during the war.

"The UAC was one of the initiators of the land reform, but that was before the war. Today, farmers cannot export, they work at a loss. Farmers are the country's leading volunteers who help rural communities and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Farmers have no money. Who has the money to buy agricultural land? We hear a lot about corrupt officials, excessive profits in banks and oil companies, etc. The question arises: how will the land market function in the future?" said the UAC Chairman Andrii Dykun on the air of Suspilne TV channel.

The UAC asks the authorities to postpone the sale of agricultural land in large volumes – 10,000 hectares to each enterprise - until the victory and two years after the end of hostilities.

"We believe that victory is the most important thing. The UAC is not against land reform. However, we ask to postpone the launch of the sale of large land plots. The war will end, farmers will recover in two years, and then we can talk about land reform. We are not afraid of access to land for legal entities. Farmers have neither the money to buy land nor the ability to take out loans. Many producers are located in the occupied, liberated and frontline areas. Preferential loans under the 5-7-9 program is being reduced: the rate will be increased by 2.5 times next year, but the limits are not being raised. In the spring, many farmers will not be able to sow, and this land will be bought up for a pittance. We ask the President to hear the farmers," emphasized Andrii Dykun.
