Mikhail Sokolov, Deputy Chairman of the UAC, emphasized during a press conference that the problem of the so-called dual citizenship of persons who, according to Ukrainian laws, became citizens of Ukraine, but remain in the registers of the Russian Federation, is relevant not only to him but also to many others.

"This is a problem of many people, including those who are on the Ukrainian side. They are, in fact, limited in their right to be elected to the Ukrainian authorities if they want to. The doubts about their supposedly dual citizenship, in fact, deprive them of that opportunity. Therefore, I understand very well the reasons for the decision of the party "Servant of the People" about my exclusion from the electoral list, because the society really has doubts about my withdrawal from Russian citizenship", - said Mikhail Sokolov.

Mikhail Sokolov stressed that this problem needs to be solved at the social and legal levels. Therefore, he appealed to lawyers with an instruction to prepare an appeal to the court in order to establish the fact of his refusal of citizenship of the Russian Federation and the absence of his Russian citizenship in accordance with the laws of Ukraine.

"I consider it fundamental, since this is a question, including the sovereignty of Ukraine. Ukrainian legislation stipulates that it is Ukraine, not Russia, who decides: a new citizen of Ukraine emerges from Russian citizenship or not. If society is in this doubt, we must refute them. This is a problem not only for me, but for all those ex-Russians who came to Ukraine and got Ukrainian citizenship. Moreover, I learned today that one of the non-governmental organizations appealed to the court in order to deprive me of Ukrainian citizenship. As far as I understand, it's because of my allegedly Russian citizenship," said Sokolov.

During a press conference, Mikhail Sokolov demonstrated documents confirming his acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship and the refusal of Russian.

Journalists asked him who could benefit from a campaign to knock out people from the list of party "Servant of the people". Mikhail Sokolov said that there is no information about this. At the same time, his activities and activities of the association could affect the business interests of oligarchic structures and a number of large agricultural holdings.

Also, Mikhail Sokolov outlined the direction in which he will continue to work — protection of the interests of small and medium-sized agrarian businesses. In particular, to secure the constitutionally prohibited foreign companies from acquiring Ukrainian land.

The Head of the Ukrainian Agri Council Andriy Dykun called the exclusion of Mikhail Sokolov from the election list of the party "Servant of the People" an unfortunate mistake.

"We believe that small and medium agrarian businesses should be heard in the new Parliament.
