On Friday, February 8, Oleksandr Slipchenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC), met with farmers in the Kirovograd region, Lozuvata village. They discussed the most pressing problems of the domestic agrarian sector.

People's deputy Maksym Polyakov (People's Front) also attended the meeting.

The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the need to combat the shadow market of agrarian products. The fact is that the tax burden on legally cultivating 1 hectare of commodity agricultural land is more than 2400 UAH, while "shadow farmers" pay up to 100 UAH per 1 hectare. As a result, officially working agricultural producers lose their competitiveness on the market of rental rights in relation to "shadow farmers".

The agricultural producers agreed with the position of the UAC that the “unshadowing” of the agrarian market would help to equalize the tax burden from 1 ha.

Thus, with the participation of the UAC, a draft law on a minimum tax liability of 1 ha of commodity land was developed in order to equalize the tax burden between officially operating enterprises and those working in the shadow. However, this document is still under discussion and agreement.

In addition, during the meeting farmers talked about the major changes in land legislation from January 1, 2019, the need for cooperation and discussed the problem of blocking imports and high prices for fertilizers in Ukraine.
