The Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Minister of MDETA Ihor Petrashka with a requirement to deny quotas introduction for nitrogen fertilizers import to Ukraine. Its initiator became the People’s Deputy Oleh Tarasov.

Quotas introduction for nitrogen fertilizers will make prices higher for agricultural producers. We have an opinion because of domestic fertilizers producers work. Also, they have misused of their monopoly position at the Ukrainian market during 2014-2017 (at the base of Antimonopoly Committee investigation results).” – the statement notifies.

The deputies explain that nitrogen fertilizers prices are 30-40% higher than in European Union countries. Quotas introduction will make prices higher anyway, because of business competition reduction.

Prices increasing for fertilizers can influence into the agricultural production cost value, because fertilizers part in product’s cost value is about 20-35%. Import limitation will make higher prices for products cost in our country. Also, it will make worse agrarians’ position at the world market.” – the deputies notice.

Therefore, the peoples’ deputies of Ukraine – the members of Committee appeal to the President and Prime Minister to deny quotas introduction for nitrogen fertilizers, because it will harm agricultural industry and contradict national interests of Ukraine.
